Saint Idiot

Saint Idiot (Tomáš Andel) is a Slovak-Canadian art pop musician, sound designer, and multimedia artist from Edmonton, Canada. He works with the unlanguaged, almost synesthetic active material of sound itself, most readily evident in those liminal spaces—like before sleep, or in deep meditation—where sounds exhibit meaning self-evidentially. Attempting to keep no distinction between what is natural and what is artificial, Saint Idiot's sound design draws on the natural world directly, but also through the approximation of abstraction, shaping sounds that don't necessarily imitate nature, but seek to imagine different, alien forms of nature, oozing with some kind of life, some kind of intelligence, whether pseudo-biological, silicone-based, or even spiritual. Saint Idiot is inspired by the fantastic multi-sensory worlds of Björk and Bowie, Zen, Deep Listening, and post-digitalism.
