We have recorded nine different drum machines; an old Roland R8M Rackmodule with a lot of different cards. The drums from a Yamaha TX81Z, a very old Yamaha Electone Organ from the PSR Keyboard series and three classic Casio SA Toypianos. We also used a Novation Super Drumstation and a Roland Super JV 1080 with different cards. Also a classic Roland MC-505 and a Qasimidi Rave-O-Lution 907.
FX CHAINS
The recorded audio files were named randomly and processed through different hardware chains and totally different software effect chains. The software based results were then processed through the analog chain again and vice versa. We ended up with a lot of unique sounding Open Hihats.
We used an Aphex Aural Exciter Type C and C2 with the famous 'Big Bottom'.
