Each instrument on this very special volume has been crafted using the same method: two very different samples respond to and complement each other. To accentuate this complementarity, we chose to treat the two samples differently on some instruments. One of the two samples has been mixed on the side, while the other occupies more of the mid. Mixing Mid and Side creates an ensemble whose position in space can be varied progressively, making it possible to create even more dynamism with a single setting (Magic Wand).
The textures produced by our modular synthesizers make use of familiar oscillators and more experimental generators. These combinations, both modern and retro, gain even more personality by passing through modules with a strong character (tube VCAs, OTAs, SEM and Sallen-Key filters, etc.). The result is a range of materials and colours that the 4MBIENCE architecture brings to life. We can no longer speak of analogue or digital, as the interweaving of the two creates organic, lively and detailed sounds.
