Introducing ITASCA: LEGATO VIOLINS, a pair of closely recorded violin libraries - playable using the full version of Kontakt 6.7.1+.

The core library features a true sampled legato engine, meaning the performer's transitions between notes have been recorded and programmed into the software. This allows the user to play interconnected melodic passages, with various types of transition samples seamlessly carrying the performance from note to note. The sustain samples are long, expressive and evolving, with the performer imparting character and movement into each.

The user-interface allows the whole melodic line to be creatively assembled from its constituent parts: the head, sustain, legato transition and tail. Key-switching and velocity are be used while playing to dictate which parts comprise the complete melodic line. For example, a high velocity at the start of a new note will trigger a sample with a cutting and pressured bow sound, whereas a soft velocity during a note transition might trigger a slow glissando.

The software provides solo and ensemble recordings, allowing the user to layer up to six players. Different sustain articulations can be activated at the same time, offering further creative possibilities.

Introducing LIMINAL: HANDPAN EXPLORATIONS, a library of a deeply sampled steel Handpan instrument, also known as a Hang or Hang Drum - playable using the full version of Kontakt 6.8+. This library introduces our new Polyrhythms engine, which allows you to perform evolving, tempo-synced polyrhythmic samples by simply layering MIDI notes on top of one another. The instrument was carefully mic'd in stereo in order to capture both the tonality and natural inherent reverberance of the instrument, as well as the subtle characteristics of the performer impacting the instrument with their hand or mallet.

This library focuses on capturing a wide dynamic range of the instruments, highlighting the uniquely varied timbres hidden within those dynamics. Notably, so-called 'whisper tones' were recorded – a difficult technique where the performer uses highly-controlled breaths to produce tone that barely activates the instrument’s resonance.

The result is a fragile sound that teeters between breath and pitch. This technique evokes a warm and airy reed-like character from the instrument.

The sample banks are diverse in their timbre, and provide useful variety. They include solo performances, small ensembles, and large 20+ performer sections.
